She Came from England… and Didn’t Like Kuta

Lisa flew all the way from England. Her journey wasn’t short a stop in Singapore, a cruise to Phuket, and then finally Bali.
When we asked how long she had been here, she smiled and said:
“5 days already.”
Five days. Not long but long enough to feel something real.
Her Most Memorable Moment? Not a Party.
We asked what stood out the most so far.
She didn’t mention beach clubs. She didn’t mention nightlife.
Instead, she said :
“To be fair… this beach. It’s lovely.”
What she wanted was simple :
“I want it to be quiet and I want it to be green. I want some nice clear sea.”
That’s it.
Not everyone comes to Bali for noise and crowds. Some people travel thousands of miles for silence.
The Part That’s Hard to Hear
Lisa is staying near Bali Rani Hotel in Kuta. When comparing that beach to where we met her, she was very honest:
“The beach is terrible… it’s awful. It is just plastic everywhere.”
For locals, that can feel uncomfortable to hear. But honesty is important.
Bali is not one single experience. Some beaches are beautiful and peaceful. Some areas are still struggling especially during certain seasons.
What’s interesting is that she didn’t say Bali was bad.
Instead, she said:
“We thought Bali was a place to go… but not Kuta.”
That’s a very different message.
It means Bali is still worth coming to.Just not every area fits every person.
Bali Is for Everyone, If You Know What You’re Looking For
Lisa and her partner weren’t searching for water sports or loud music.
They wanted:
“Peace and quiet.”
When they discovered a greener, calmer beach, her reaction was immediate:
“Oh my goodness… it feels like a movie set.”
That’s the magic of Bali.
One island.Many versions.
Some people love Canggu.
Some enjoy Kuta.
Some prefer Ubud.
Some just want to sit near trees and listen to the wind.
Bali isn’t one story.
A Reflection for Us
For those of us who live here, stories like this are important.
They show that:
People travel extremely far because they believe Bali offers something special.
They may be disappointed in one place, but still fall in love somewhere else.
They are not looking for “viral.” They are looking for feeling.
That’s powerful.
It means Bali still holds depth.
Don’t Be Afraid of Honest Feedback
This story isn’t about criticism. It’s about perspective.
Bali continues to attract people from across the world not because it’s perfect, but because it offers choices.
As Lisa said about her remaining days:
“We’re just playing it as it goes.”
Maybe that’s the best way to experience Bali.
Come. Explore. Find your version of peace.
Because Bali isn’t just one place.
And maybe that’s exactly why it’s for everyone.
